Norm Wright took a trip to Piggott, Arkansas so he could deliver his N-Scale replica model of the Pfeiffer-Janes House, located at Arkansas State University.
Norm has been a member of the San Diego Society of N-Scale for about 29 years and in that time has constructed numerous models for his club. Also in that time, Norm has passed on great knowledge about modeling to his fellow members (the SONS). The SONS feel Norm has a unique passion for his craft and is definitely one of a kind. Norm loves sharing his knowledge and passion about modeling, its just a shame so few people seek it.
Norm became intrigued by the museum after reading an article about it in the Union Tribune. Norm believes the house has extraordinary character and decided to construct a replica. The museum staff aided in Norm’s construction by sending photos and floor plans of the house. Norm’s project took about three months to perfect. Norm used styrene plastic and embossed shingle roofing, he also used miniature people to represent Ernest Hemingway, his wife Pauline Pfeiffer and Paul and Mary Pfeiffer who owned the house in the 1930’s.
The Navy veteran and Pearl Harbor survivor says he became interested in railroad models after reading a William K. Walther's railroad modeling catalog, that was over 50 years ago.
